Safeguarding Training for Primary Care Staff

Here you can find the current safeguarding guidance, available resources and learning opportunities to support safeguarding children and adults.

How many hours training do Primary Care Clinicians need?

According to RCGP guidance, training should be 50% participatory and 50% non-participatory. A multi-disciplinary approach to safeguarding training is encouraged in order to share best practice and develop professional networks. Several aspects of safeguarding training and education can apply equally to child and adult safeguarding and share the same principles. Examples may include:

  • Safeguarding ethos
  • Confidentiality
  • Information sharing
  • Documentation
  • Domestic Abuse
